It surprised me (in last week’s session) what my question to Magic was. It came out of nowhere. I asked: “Magic, where are you when I do not recognise you? When I do not acknowledge you?”

Magic told me: “I am HERE whether you see me or not. I am ALWAYS! I reside in life, in nature, in everything in the Universe.” I asked: “So, Magic are you the Great Mystery?” Magic confirmed with a smile. Still, I want you to acknowledge me more often. You know how important it is to be acknowledged. To be witnessed. So, open your eyes and Soul every day and drink in the many moments of Magic I share. I am everywhere. You will love it. You will feel happy. You will enjoy Life more.”

I promised I would.

And so, I have. For this past week and a half, I have acknowledged the many magical moments presenting itself to me. The magic of flowing cold water running from my tap. And the magic of hot water coming out of the other tap. The little oak shoot suddenly growing from the acorn I pushed down into the earth in my windowsill pot, years ago and had forgotten about. The magic of listening to the Blackbird singing its melodic song, late in the evening and hearing the call-back from far away. The magic of the fire flame on my candle burning bright and the smoke dissolving into the air when I out it. The magic of seeing the sprouts grow from tiny little seeds and the magic of the internet keeping me in contact with friends and relatives all over the globe. Every day is now filled with acknowledging magical moments. There is no end to it all and as Magic told me, I do love acknowledging it and I do feel happier and enjoy life even more by doing so.

Watching Life go by.
Being urged to actively seek out and sit in a busy place filled me with horror! I so love my solitude and shun crowds and this hermit like life has grown even deeper within me since Covid-lockdown time. Still, I took the opportunity the other day, when passing through Waterloo station in London, to stop and take time to watch Life go by.  At first, I felt overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the masses of people coming and going. Everyone was on the run it seemed. Catching trains, arriving to continue their travel by taxi, underground or change to another train. There was something frantic in people’s eyes, trying to work out which way to go. Their strained postures, managing the impossible task of balancing their mobile and cups of coffee in one hand and pulling their luggage in the other. I spotted a stationary crowd, positioned in front of the big noticeboard eagerly trying to catch the announcement of which track their train would departure from. Groups of families with packed suitcases and children chasing each other, totally oblivious of what was going on around them.

I saw open arms greeting long awaited friends, lovers. Business people, looking bored with their briefcases tucked under their arms, all to used to the wait for their commuter trains. To kill time, people dipped in and out of the many shops spread around the big station hall, not that they needed to buy anything. Just something to do whilst waiting since so many have lost the art of just sitting and enjoying Life go by.
That evening, I blessed my quiet “sitting time” by my opened window, overlooking my neighbour’s gardens, filled with huge trees and birdsong. Although Waterloo station was filled with “life” this is where I feel connected with all there is, with Life.

@Nina Carina Strudwick so interesting to take ourselves out of our normal safe zones and familiar places, and put ourselves in other parts of Life. Thank you for daring to do it! Sounds so good that you can just sit there, simply observing. A powerful practice for you, to be able to sit in a place like this. And so fascinating to see what arrives and unfolds. Another view of life...

It feels to me that there is a great poem waiting to burrow out of this experience, maybe you might try that and share it with us?... Thinking of using rhythm and punctuation to give that sense of frantic rushing, compared with your still sitting? And more...
